Description

Kevin Schmidt’s artist book provides step-by-step instructions on how to prepare a 4×5 camera to launch into the upper stratosphere to photograph the curvature of the earth. Effectively, Schmidt offers a guide on how to recreate the photograph he took for his work “High Altitude Balloon Harmless Amateur Radio Equipment” (2013). Kevin Schmidt often draws on DIY and hobbyist culture to produce his work, and this guide contributes back to that community with his own discoveries and inventions.

The book was published on the occasion of the exhibition of Kevin Schmidt within the International Studio Programme at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin.

Softcover, perfect-bound, colour.
