Joan Jonas’ artistic production takes place at the juncture where performance, video, drawing and installation merge. Since 1968, she has been engaged in a continuously growing complex of work dealing with questions of identity, transcultural exchange and narrative strategies. This American artist’s interdisciplinary explorations have inspired younger generations of artists throughout the world.
In her interview with Andrea Saemann and Chris Regn, Joan Jonas gives glimpses into her way of thinking and the beginnings of her career as an artist. The DVD edition includes a booklet with an article by Katrin Grögel.
