Description

The collaborating artists created Nova Popularna as a salon-style space in Warsaw, documented here for the month of May 2003. Influenced by the histories of the Cabaret Voltaire, Montmartre bohemia, and band performances at the Bauhaus they imagined an alternative space for artists to socialize, exhibit work, and perform in current day Poland. Interviews, artists’ texts, collaged photographs, reproductions of event posters, even the graffiti on the bar’s tables has been featured within the oversized pages of this useful document of a necessary artists’ initiative.
