Description

New Zealand’s Trekka is a utility vehicle crossed with recreational vehicle made by New Zealanders from 85% New Zealand-made parts. Michael Stevenson’s contribution for the New Zealand Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennial, examines the history of the hopelessly unsuccessful Trekka which has been sold only 2,300 times, tragicomically reflecting New Zealand’s social and economic strategies during the Cold War.
