Since 2021, Artexte Editions has collaborated with the research group Formes actuelles de l’expérience photographique : épistémologies, pratiques, histoires (FAEP) on a series of books entitled Sites of Photographic Knowledge. FAEP brings together established and emerging researchers with a mandate to enrich photographic discourse, whether artistic, scientific, social or pedagogical, while redefining photographic studies – and its knowledge – as a constellation of experiences.
“The photobook is a mode of photographic practice that inextricably bound up with a constellation of issues: identity, place, politics, community, and desire. The Book —a book on books of sorts— contains essays by Michel Hardy-Vallée (on John Max’s Open Passport, 1973), Karla McManus (on the NFB’s Between Friends/Entre amis, 1976) and Zoë Tousignant (on Foto Canada magazine, 1967-68), as well as a site-specific intervention by artist Nelson Henricks.” — Nicola Pezolet and Eduardo Ralickas
Edited by Nicola Pezolet and Eduardo Ralickas, with contributions from Michel Hardy-Vallée, Nelson Henricks, Karla McManus and Zoë Tousignant.
