Description

Artists are essential in resisting and dismantling fascism. Throughout history and through the present, artists have instigated, questioned, provoked; they provide humor, creative impulse, reflection, serenity, validation. In light of the US’s political swing toward white supremacy and hate, artists need the emotional, financial, physical, and spiritual support to keep sustain their work.

Making Art During Fascism is a tool-kit and pamphlet asking artists to use their power as creators. It offers a space for self-inventory and notes on self-care concerning mental health and creative practices. Most of all it encourages artists to keep making art because the world needs them too.

The pamphlet was printed in conjunction with the Making Art During Fascism workshops, led by Beth Pickens, at the Women’s Center for Creative Work in Los Angeles, CA from December 1, 2016 – February 28, 2017.
