Description

Jesse Harris is a Toronto-based artist working within a distinctly statement-oriented form of art practice. Often adapting readily available materials and familiar forms and language, Harris creates art that quips at authoritarian notions while promoting the energy, attitude, and responsibilities of do-it-yourself and grassroots counter cultures.

The book (co-published by Koyama Press & Show & Tell Gallery) consists of over 100 poster designs that develop Harris’ ideas about the process of creating art. Combining anti-militaristic ideologies and historical art references with an emphasis on the medium as a sensorial “massage”, Jesse Wars Here is a monograph in which the artist asserts his concern for the consequences of artistic production.
