Description

A DVD, by all appearances bootlegged, with the title “Rarely Seen Bas Jan Ader Film.” The DVD contains only a few seconds of black and white footage depicting a figure, presumably Ader himself, biking into the ocean.

Text accompanying this mysterious bootleg states: “A recently discovered film by artist, Bas Jan Ader. This was found in a locker at UC Irvine in 1975 where he was teaching. It was probably disregarded by Ader because the film abruptly ends just as he enters the ocean. It is believed to be shot shortly before his disappearance, most likely by Ger Van Elk.”

Edition of 30.
