Description

Paris-based artist Marie-Ange Guilleminot’s contribution to Art Metropole’s FWD editions series returns to a theme referred to in previous works by her; that of the American nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The work consists of a sheet of white Japanese paper printed with the text of ‘Le vol blanc’ by Pierre Giquel translated into 5 languages that is then folded into the origami figure of a crane (or tsuru) where one side of the tsuru is lithographed in yellow and the tsuru is unfolded and inscribed with the date of the folding, the amount of time taken for the operation and the artist’s signature. From an edition of ten with two artist’s proofs.
