This limited-edition booklet of postcards celebrates Toronto’s most popular carnival, the Canadian National Exhibition. Albert Kasman captured these images in the early 1980s using an older type of Polaroid film, which gives the illusion that the photographs are relics from a previous decade.
Included are nine colour postcards, perforated for easy removal.
The reverse side of the cover includes information about the CNE, the photographer, and the photographs. The back of the postcards contain fascinating historical information about the rides and food kiosks featured in the photographs.
The postcards include images of the following:
The Rotor, The Flyer, Super Dog stand, the Princess Margaret Fountain, the Alpine Way and the Giant Wheel, the Monster, the Enterprise, Meester Mike’s Pizza Casa, and the Schlittenfahrt.
Shari Kasman is a cousin to Albert. The booklet was assembled on his behalf, posthumously. His interest in photography is likely thanks to his brother Sidney, who worked as a research scientist at Polaroid, where he helped to develop early instant colour film.
