Description

Publication of a group exhibition dealing with the way we use architecture to isolate ourselves. Liz Magor’s structures meditate on refuge in the woods; Samuel Roy-Bois breaks down high-rise apartment buildings; Janice Kerbel’s buildings range in their architectural references; and Adriana Kuiper revisits the fallout shelter. The author explores the contradictions that mark contemporary existence: the desire for security and boundaries and the consequent danger of solitude and paranoia. Fittingly, the essay is presented as a separate pamphlet sewn within the binding of the publication.
