Here Tiravanija has appropriated his text from the title of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Ali: Fear Eats the Soul a film which still resonates today with its vibrant questions of race and class raised in 1970s Germany.

The 4-worded phrase used by Rirkrit literally “serves” as a cornerstone of his artistic practice, using appropriated language to underscore the exploration between art and food, and now perfectly encapsulated in a fiberglass tray produced by Cambro, Huntington Beach, CA U.S.A.
