Description

DREAMING LIKE MAD with DION McGREGOR: Outrageous Recordings of the World’s Most Renowned Sleeptalker To Dion McGregor, the world’s greatest sleeptalker, the time for sleep and the time for many words were one and the same. Several times a week, McGregor would hold forth with the most outlandish and fascinating somnolent monologues imaginable. Fortunately for us, his roommate Michael Barr recorded hundreds of these astounding somniloquies on reel-to-reel tape. They first saw the light of day in 1964 when Decca released an LP, with cover art by Edward Gorey, called The Dream World of Dion McGregor (He Talks in His Sleep). This was followed, a mere thirty-five years later, by Dion McGregor Dreams Again—a sequel compiled by Phil Milstein and released on CD by Tzadik. In 2004, my Torpor Vigil label came out with another compilation in the sequence entitled The Further Somniloquies of Dion McGregor—More Outrageous Recordings of the World’s Most Renowned Sleeptalker. Since that time, several long-lost tapes have found their way back into the archive. Selections from these rediscovered treasures, along with other unreleased gems, will comprise a new “dream world” album—the fiftieth anniversary of the first Dion McGregor album! Dreaming Like Mad With Dion McGregor—Yet More Outrageous Recordings of the World’s Most Renowned Sleeptalker features an hour of hilarious, bizarre and haunting McGregor dreams. The album, vibrantly illustrated by Kerry Zentner is now available as a CD.

Shrinkrwrapped audio CD in a soft full-colour sleeve.
