Land & Language is an archive if Indigenous hip-hop songs in which the rappers are using ther native mother tongue to express personal stories of oppression. The archive is presented as a mix-tape with an inlet designed as a small ethnographic publication presenting the artists’ political agenda and their cultural background.
The project is also presented as DJ-sets under the pseudonym DJ Land & Language. The project is a part of the larger research project investigating and celebrating the merge of indigenous cultures and the global hip-hop movement. The project has also been presented in the form of a lecture in social-anthropological conferences such as the ICASS VII conference in Akureyri, Iceland and the 18th Inuit conference at Smithsonian, Washington DC.
