Description

This is the first installment of The Social Life of the Book, which is a monthly, subscriptionbased series of texts by writers, artists, publishers, designers, booksellers, etc., reflecting on reading, designing, publishing, and distributing books today.

Oscar Tuazon (1975, Seattle) is an artist living in Paris and a founding member of castillo/corralles. In addition to his work in sculpture and installation, Tuazon has published several books. In this essay, he reflects on the influence of the time he spent at his parent’s book bindery on his ongoing artistic practice.
