Henry Petroski loves books and everything to do with them, as does Parasitic Ventures Press, as does Daniel Olson. Petroski’s ‘The Book on the Bookshelf’ covered the full history of both of these inventions, and in homage to it, Olson has selected passages from Petroski’s book to create the poems of ‘Notes on the Book’. Each phrase is a disproportionally evocative passage that has been integrated into a longer poem, and can be timeless, amusing, fusty, perplexing and even inspiring.
