Description

Mark Dion brought live piranhas, a giant mole, a bear skeleton, an ichthyosaur and other natural curiosities to the South London Gallery and set up a full ecological laboratory in an adjacent overgrown vacent lot. This catalogue documents Dion’s combination of the tradition of the Victorian gentleman naturalist and the contemporary artist, of art and science, of the fusty and the modern.
