This project is in response to finding a 50 year old audio recording of Ansel Adams typing an unknown letter. It takes the form of a hardcover book with 38-page essay by Godfre Leung, sheet music, print of a typewriter drawing by Lenka Clayton, and 12″ LP featuring new sound compositions by Lenka Clayton, Chris Duncan, Barbara Held, Michael Masura Flora, Jonathan Kaiser, Tiffany Ng, Steve Roden, Greg Pond & Cesar Léal. Design by Studio Elana Schlenker.
This is the fourth book in an eleven volume series of artists books by Peter Happel Christian and Phillip Andrew Lewis. Books from this project have been featured at New York Art Book Fair, Chicago Art Book Fair, San Francisco Art Book Fair, and Vancouver Art Book Fair. They are in the public collections of Center for Creative Photography, Art Institute of San Francisco Special Collections, Flaxman Library Special Collection at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.
