This multiple is a souvenir of a 32-foot high public artwork of the same name erected in 2012 on Main Street in Vancouver, BC. The sculpture, which consists of a 7-foot high cast aluminum poodle that sits on a 25-foot high steel pole, was made as part of an initiative by the City of Vancouver’s Public Art Program and TransLink Corporation to encourage the public to ride the buses that traverse the 88 blocks of Main Street. Untitled (Poodle) was a response to the presence of a multitude of collectible objects found in the many small establishments along the street and was intended as both a curiosity and a marker or icon of time and place. The sculpture is quite formal, representing not a living poodle but, rather, a porcelain figurine – the kind of object that might be found in shops along the street.
The multiple Untitled (Poodle) was custom made. It proportions are exactly those of the sculpture.
