On Friday January 9, 2004 Art Metropole was delighted to launch the exhibition of Bless: at home in Toronto with the generous support of our partners, The Goethe Institute and The Austrian Embassy.
The artists made gallery attendees feel “at home” by hosting a dinner party for the opening. The Bless No07 tablecare – a coated tablecloth with built-in place settings that is designed to eliminate dishwashing – became the centerpiece of the evening. A small group of guests were served salad and pumpkin pasta directly on the tablecloth that was later tossed in the wash for easy clean up! As other guests arrived for the opening they were offered a bowl of pasta as they perused the wide selection of Bless fashions and products to “fuck up every style”.
We’d like the thank the artists for being such great hosts-away-from-home, and we would like to thank the Drake Hotel, The Power Plant, Enoch Gray, the Foggy Dew, and our volunteers: Jen, Katie, Charlene, Lyndsey and Maiko for being so helpful.
Bless runs until March 31, 2004.
