Art Metropole is pleased to announce a new fundraising edition by Damian Moppett, a hand-inked drawing over a black and white silver gelatin print. Each drawing is done entirely by hand, with changes to the face and hairstyle making each completely unique.
The silver gelatin image is of the artist Hollis Frampton, a multi-media conceptual artist who died in 1980. In 2001 Damian Moppett photographed himself, made-up by a movie special effects person to look like Hollis Frampton. The resulting photographic work was entitled Self Portrait as Hollis Frampton and was printed as an edition of five.
The new edition, Hollis Frampton as Self Portrait, operates as an extension of that first portrait, and completes the cycle: artist impersonating Hollis Frampton and Hollis Frampton made (unwillingly) to impersonate the artist.
