Art Metropole is pleased to host the launch for Julie Voyce: Paste-Up, published by the Southern Alberta Art Gallery and The Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery. Please join us August 24th between 7 9 pm to celebrate the release of this visually stunning catalogue. The activity from which Julie Voyce: Paste-Up sprung is best described by the artist in her own words:
The first three colors would have bounced off the circumference of everybody’s eyeballs… creamed pistachio & transparent magenta were replaced by orange and trans cyan. Black stayed. The Game was set: each and every abstract screen print had to swing in three colors max. At first, Doctor Seuss mentored the imagery then everything collapsed into dot fields. Thirty-two abstracts were made. Several exhibits were called Paste-Up.
- Julie Voyce
These prints have recently been mounted at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge (November 2005-January 2006) and at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound (March – April 2007). The shows were curated by Joan Stebbins and Stuart Reid. Now there’s a catalogue! Julie Voyce: Paste-Up is stunning. Compact and lush with visual orchestration by Lisa Kiss Design, a wall enhancing multiple signed by the artist and essays by RM Vaughan and Stuart Reid. The book was published by the Southern Alberta Art Gallery and the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
