Panel: Publishing as Trans Artistic Strategy
Sunday, May 17, [TIME]
Panelists: Edie Fake, Whess Harman, Jordan King
Moderated by Dallas Fellini
Bringing together artists working across artists’ books, zines, and other print-based practices, this conversation will consider what print might offer to trans artists in a moment marked by simultaneous censorship and trans hypervisibility. Edie Fake, Whess Harman, and Jordan King will discuss their approaches to negotiating access, opacity, and visibility in their work, considering the significant historical role that print culture and self-publishing has held within trans communities.
Book Signing: Seen Through Red with Artist Jordan King
Saturday, May 16, 2–3 PM
Jordan King will be visiting Art Metropole’s VABF table from 2–3 PM on Saturday, May 16th to sign copies of her recently-published artist’s book Seen Through Red. Seen Through Red presents reproductions of nightlife ephemera from Jordan King’s personal archive, bringing together posters, flyers, and Polaroids documenting parties, performances, and drag shows that took place in Vancouver between 2000–2006.
