Art Metropole at Miss Read Art Book Fair

Offsite Location
silent green, Gerichtstraße 35, 13347 Berlin-Wedding

Art Metropole will be exhibiting at Miss Read: The Berlin Art Book Fair and Festival this year, taking place at silent green from Friday June 26 – Sunday June 28.

In conjunction with the fair, we are thrilled to be launching the reprint of the FETISH T-shirt, the perfect attire to wear to a dungeon or family outing. This T-shirt was conceptualized by John Jack Baylin and John Dowd, and originally produced in collaboration with Image Bank for the Decca Dance. Art Metropole later produced and sold the shirt throughout the 1970s, frequently featuring it in advertisements on the pages of early issues of FILE Megazine. We are thrilled to have the first artist’s multiple ever published by Art Metropole back in print once again, this time as an open fundraising edition.

The FETISH T-shirt will be available at Art Metropole’s table throughout the fair, alongside a selection of books and zines by artists, including titles from Art Metropole’s own publishing program. Featured artists include Nour Bishouty, Azadeh Elmizadeh, Jordan King, G.B. Jones, Joshua Schwebel, Darian Razdar, Alicia Nauta, Lan “Florence” Yee, ma ma, Minh Nguyen, A Maior, Yaniya Lee, Samantha Kruger, and more!

Fair Hours:
Friday, June 26, 5–9pm
Saturday, June 27, 12–7pm,
Sunday, June 28, 12–7pm

Founded in 2009, Miss Read is dedicated to building a community and creating a public meeting place for discourse around artists’ books, conceptual publications and publishing as artistic and political practice. Miss Read: The Berlin Art Book Fair brings together a wide selection of the most interesting artists/authors, artist periodicals and art publishers and is accompanied by a series of lectures, discussions, book launches and workshops exploring the boundaries of contemporary publishing and the possibilities of the book. In conjunction with Miss Read, the annual Conceptual Poetics Day explores the imaginary border between visual art and literature.
